Food Warehouse Operative

Our client is seeking a dedicated and effective warehouse operative to work within a fast paced food importing warehouse. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in the smooth operation of our warehouse, ensuring that materials are handled correctly and efficiently. This position requires a strong attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Duties

• Handle materials with care, ensuring proper picking, packing, and stock management.
• Operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment safely and efficiently if required
• Assist in shipping and receiving processes, including loading and unloading goods from lorries.
• Conduct quality control checks to ensure that all products meet company standards.
• Maintain an organised warehouse environment, adhering to health and safety regulations.
• Utilise the Warehouse Management System (WMS) for tracking inventory levels and managing stock locations.
• Collaborate with team members to achieve daily operational goals.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a warehouse setting is preferred but not essential.
• Strong mechanical knowledge is advantageous for operating equipment effectively.
• Familiarity with materials handling processes, including shipping and receiving operations.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• A valid forklift licence is desirable but training may be provided for the right candidate.
• Willingness to learn new skills related to warehouse management systems and operational procedures.

Job Type: Temp to perm

Contract length: 6-8 weeks

Pay: £11.44 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
